Phil Parry
Phil Parry is a DJ from the West Midlands in the United Kingdom. He first got
into the dance scene back in 1995 listening to the Essential Selection and the
Essential Mix on BBC Radio 1. Influenced by the likes of Paul Oakenfold, Sasha
and Pete Tong bought a pair at decks at the age of 17 and started playing tracks
from the classic labels like Deconstruction, Stress, Platipus and XL.
Phil's
favourite period in dance music was the 'Gatecrasher Years' 1999 onwards where
the names of Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren and Ferry Corsten emerged. Phil played
local gigs but never really pushed for bigger things back then as he always saw
it as a spare time mess around hobby, something to do in front of the labs. And
around 2003 starting mixing up some hard house as was losing a bit of interest
in the trance scene and shortly after stopped playing as he lost interest in it
and just wanted tp experience the scene as a clubber.
Over the years Phil
still tuned into Armin Van Buuren's weekly A State of Trance and also followed
the rise of Markus Schulz on the Global DJ Broadcast. These shows influenced
Phil to want to get back into the scene and with the internet growing as it did
and the scope for promotion across the world he felt it was what he wanted to
do. And that decision was made final after a trip to A State of Trance 400 at
Godskitchen in the UK.
